If you are looking for a haven of paz, spirituality and mysticism in the island of Ibiza, do not stop approaching Sa Pedrera in Cala d’Hort, on the coast of the Es Cubells area, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. An old quarry of marès at the edge of the sea, with natural pools of large and cut rocks that form natural pools

It is certainly an attractive excursion for hiking fans.. Located on the coast of the Cala d’Hort Nature Reserve, at the foot of the tower des Savinar, Sa Pedrera in Cala d’Hort (which some mistakenly call ‘Atlantis’) It is very close to the powerful islet of Es Vedrà and it is essential to wear adequate footwear since every year several rescues are carried out in the area. In fact, It is an area very busy by visitors to the island for its views of Es Vedrà. There are two ways to go: or by boat or descending the path that has a steep slope and that has been created with the passage of numerous people for years.

Downstairs there is also a small cave where formerly stonecutters took refuge when it rained and which also served as housing for some hippies. Still today, some people keep going down the cliff and carving figures into the malleable marès (sandstone). The appearance of the carved rocks, that house steps and flat surfaces along the shore, at the same time that the water seeps between the folds forming natural pools, composes a breathtaking landscape. The waters are crystal clear and bathing next to the quarry is an unforgettable experience..

From this old quarry I extracted stone, which was transported by sea to the capital and part of the Renaissance walls of Ibiza were erected with Cala d’Hort sandstone. The stone was also transported by boat to Sant Antoni.
