MUSIC & TRADITION IN THE ‘FIESTAS’ OF SANT JOAN DE LABRITJA

Can Raia Rock Band & Alò Bahía Dance
Will liven up the night of 23rd June.
The celebrations will last until the 1st July
Sant Joan de Labritja has strarted its ‘fiestas’.  And the diverse acts which figure in this year’s programme will last until the 1st July, date on which one of the most traditional events of the celebrations of the island’s northernmost locality is planned.

Sant Joan, faithful to its traditions with respect to its old folk, celebrates on this day, after a mass, the lunch in homage to the pensioners.  The exhibition of folk dancing by ‘sa Colla de Labritja’ is also not to be missed.

But the main events of the programme will be concentrated, as they should be, on the 23rd and 24th, and on this occasion the folkloric group invited to entertain the attendants is from the island of Gran Canaria.

This formation will perform on Saturday night, with a repeat on the big day of the ‘fiestas’, midsummer’s night, the night of Sant Joan.

On that same 23rd, the boys from Can Raia Rock Band will also play, one of the local bands most associated with the towns fiestas, and the Alò Bahía Dance Company will also perform.

On the 24th June, the fiestas will start with the celebration of Mass and the procession and the nocturnal party, after the fire works, will be to the the sound of the music of the Orquesta Paradís.
