SIXTH EDITION OF THE IBIZA GAY AND LESBIAN INTERNATIONAL CINEMA FESTIVAL

More than 500 films have been presented to participate in the ‘Festival del Mar’, which will take place from the 19^th to the 27^th of June in the cine Serra in Ibiza after having passed through the municipal theatre in Mayorca.

The national and foreign public of the island will be able to enjoy the longer and shorter formats of the most up to date gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual fictional cinema.

On Friday June 19, at 20:30 hrs, the movie by the Swedish director Casper Andreas, Bewtween Love and goodbye will get this edition of the Ibiza version of this festival under way, which this year is into its sixth year. In total 9 full-length and 24 short movies from 14 countries will be shown in Ibiza.

One more year, and riding on the successes of the previous editions, this festival, known popularly as ‘Festival del Mar’, now fully consolidated, will become the international reference for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual cinema. Ibiza’s cinema fans will be able to attend the first screenings of all sorts of stories in the forms of comedies, dramas or musicals, all with the common denominator of respect towards affective and relationship diversity.

There are five categories of prizes which the movies chosen to compete in the festival can aspire to: Best Full-length Movie, Best Short, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Script.

This festival fully supports maintaining the communication and development of the fundamental coexistence and integration between different ways of being and feeling through the medium of cinema.
