The first Soul Food Fest takes place next Tuesday, 12 October at the Caló de s’Oli auditorium, in Cala de Bou. It is an event that combines the gastronomy of the southern United States with the deepest roots of blues and rock. There will be performances by Chino Swingslide, Cezar Crespo, Héctor Martínez and the Ibizan Uncle Sal.
The Soul Food Fest is organized by the Sant Josep Town Hall, Salvem Sa Badia and the Great River Road Cultural Association in order to publicize the intense link between cuisine and musical culture.
The event is scheduled to begin at 13:00 hours with a blues concert by the great Argentine guitarist established in Barcelona Chino Swinglisde, the famous Madrid bluesman César Crespo and the journalist and harmonica player Héctor Martínez, author of the book Comer y cantar: soul, food & Blues.
After the concert-conference you will be able to taste a 'gumbo' at popular prices, which is one of the typical Creole cuisine dishes of New Orleans and the states of Lousiana, Texas and South Carolina. There will also be a bar where you can consume other foods and drinks. To the 16:00 hrs., the Ibizan group Uncle Sal will offer a concert in which they will perform songs from all their albums and some versions of American rock classics.
