DALT VILA ARCHEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

The museum is situated in the old university building and it holds over 600 pieces, mainly from the Carthaginian period and boasts a plaque of Bes which is the only representation of this God in the Pitiüses which didn’t come from a tomb; it was found in the remains of the Punic stone carver’s workshop in Ses Figuretes, in the 1981 excavation.

The original Roman statues from the gateway of Ses Taules are in this museum.

MUSEO ARQUEOLÓGICO DE DALT VILA

El museo se encuentra en el edificio de la antigua universidad y en él se exponen más de 600 piezas, principalmente del periodo cartaginés y de la que destacamos una placa de Bes que es la única representación de este dios que hay en las Pitiüses que no ha salido de una tumba; lo encontraron en los restos del taller alfarero púnico de ses Figuertes, en la excavación de 1981. Las estatuas romanas originales del Portal de ses Taules se encuentran en este museo.

El museu es troba a l’edifici de l’ antiga Universitat i en ell s’exposen més de 600 peces , principalment del període cartaginès i de la qual destacam una placa de Bes que és l’única representació d’aquest déu que hi ha a les Pitiüses que no ha sortit d’una tomba; ho trobaren amb les restes del taller alfarer púnic de ses Figueretes , a l’excavació de 1981.

Les estàtues romanes originals del Portal de Ses Taules es troban a aquest museu.lo.

EXPOSITION « ES FOC

HOMMENATGE A LA NIT DE SANT JOAN ».

(FIRE HOMMAGE TO MIDSUMMER’S NIGHT)

Asociación de Artistas Visuales de las Islas Baleares (AAVIB).

This year the association is travelling to a municipality outside the city with the exposition which will be held in the San Juan Cultural Centre (CCSJ)… and as the dates coincide with the Patron Saint’s Feast, not only is it included in the official programme, but will also have fire as a theme, main protagonist of Midsummer’s night.

The solstice fires have invoked the virtuous elements since time immemorial, the spirits of light and truth, to bring good luck for the new year. The tradition of leaping over the nine fires on midsummer’s night reminds us of these archaic costumes and beliefs. The Masonic year still ends and begins on midsummer’s night.

The artists of the AAVIB of Ibiza and Formentera has reflected on the theme from multiple viewpoints. In this way we can find a whole range of interesting interpretations, which go from the tragedy of the Twin Towers in New York ("El Gran Fuego" – Julio Bauza) to a toy fire engine in a mini-installation (Holger E. Dunckel), and an African midsummer’s night (Eva Alcaide) to the night of fire on the island of Ibiza (Stafforini). "Llamas Alegres" (Peribáñes) and "Arde un fuego Gigante" (Carayol) stand out.

The whole collection of paintings by the local artists is decorated with Chinese balloons, brought by the visiting artist to our island, Vicky Chu, which in China are set to float in the air with best wishes for loved ones given by the flames of the lit slips of paper on which they are written.

Ibiza Rocks – ¡Ens porten a Artic Monkeys!

Ibiza Rocks sorprèn amb la revelació britànica, però i ha una cita que promet més: Icd Soundsystem
Aquest any s’han lluït. Els d’Ibiza Rocks ens regala (ehem… que l’entrada no es precisament barata) un concert de la major revelació del rock en l’últim any, Artic Monkeys. Per si fos poc, el mateix però amb l’escena de ball de l’últim lustre: LCD Soundsystem. La resta del cartell també invita a deixar-se caure pel Bar M de Sant Antoni a recordar què es la música en viu.

Ibiza Rocks surprises with the British revelation, but there’s an even more exciting promise: LCD Soundsystem
This year they’ve outdone themselves. Ibiza Rocks gives us (ahem… the tickets aren’t exactly cheap) a concert by this year’s biggest rock revelation, Arctic Monkeys. And as if that wasn’t enough, the dance scene’s equivalent: LCD Soundsystem. The rest of the programme also calls us along to the Bar M in San Antonio to remember that music is live.

Ibiza Rocks sorprende con la revelación británica, pero hay una cita que promete más: Lcd Soundsystem
Este año se han lucido. El Ibiza Rocks nos regala (ejem… que la entrada no es precisamente barata) un concierto de la mayor revelación del rock en el último año, Artic Monkeys. Por si fuera poco, lo mismo pero con la escena de baile del último lustro: LCD Soundsystem. El resto del cartel también invita a dejarse caer por el Bar M de Sant Antoni a recordar qué es la música en vivo.
