THE LEGEND OF DJ FRANKIE WILDE, OR HOW TO TRIUMPH IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY… AND GO

Spain has recently seen the release of the film, produced by the DJ Pete Tong “It’s all gone wrong, Peter Tong” or “The legend of DJ Frankie Wilde”, filmed in Ibiza.  The movie, based on real events, tells the story of a DJ who reaches the pinnacle of his career, with all the excesses of luxuries, drugs and sex that go with it and his ensuing fall from the heights due to a rare ear disease which leads him little by little towards total deafness and depression.

Filmed in the style of ‘false documentary’, the film features appearances from DJs such as Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk and Pete Tong himself, all appearing as themselves and talking about the supposed and reputed DJ.

It was written and directed by the Canadian Michael Dowse and many landscapes of our geography appear as backdrops, especially the discos and parties of the island’s night-life, as well as the inevitable Dalt Vila.

The British-Canadian co-production got good revues on the independent scene when it was first released in 2005.  Even so, we’ve had to wait three years for it to be released in our cinemas.
