FOCUS IV IN THE MACE

FOCUS IV

FOCUS Exhibition IV, in the MACE

The Museum of Contemporary Art of Eivissa (MACE) presents the exhibition FOCUS IV, The White Queen. The name comes from a representative work of Isabel Echarri, which has entered precisely this year in the MACE collection. This gesture serves as a small tribute to the nonagenarian author and resident of Formentera, now permanently.

The MACE looks for connections and contexts between these recent and previous works, tried to provoke in the viewer the tension of the narrative threads, looking for your interest and your complicity, inviting you to actively participate in the development and growth of the museum itself.

The Focus IV exhibition, with a score of works by 17 artists, intends to showcase new acquisitions and donations, put them in dialogue and also do so also taking advantage of their own funds so that these works continue to grow within the museum, in the words of the Councilor for Culture, Pep Tur, que añade que ‘poner en valor el trabajo que se hace y hacer una exposición de este tipo no es sólo exponer las obras que han llegado sino que hay un trabajo detrás que es ponerlas en diálogo con el propio museo y en su propia historia. It is an intense work but within the history of the FOCUS exhibitions., both the quality of the works and the quality of the museum's collection are very clear ’.

For the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Eivissa, Elena Ruiz, ‘The exhibition revolves around the female figure. The exhibition has three clearly differentiated blocks: the first deals with the Deities and the idealization of the feminine principle. Isabel Echarri's White Queen is an archetype of perfection and fulfillment. He is a primordial figure in the game of chess and for this reason, has been installed next to the work, also from Echarri, Chess game (life and death). The second block deals with the figure of the artist and the consciousness of being with a work by Adrián Martínez, made in charcoal on the wall, that invites us to meditate on the figure and the ego of the artist. The third block deals with women, the image and identity '.
