CLEAN AIR IN IBIZA

In Ibiza, as in the rest of the world, the problems of urban mobility, air pollution and noise are a cause for worry.  The majority of the towns and urban centres have got traffic problems due to the number of vehicles on the streets, which is on the increase and contributes to a deterioration of the quality of life of the citizenry.  Although there are legal measures and technological solutions to limit this pollution, we have to change our habits and customs in order to have cleaner air.
The councillor for Mobility and Territorial Ordinance of the Govern Balear, Gabriel Vicens, has presented the programme Aire limpio para todos (Clean air for all) within the European Mobility Week, which this year will count with the participation of 44 town councils and 11 entities from the Balearic Islands, which, of course, include Ibiza.

The activities of this initiative will take place between the 16th and the 22nd of this present month of September and are aimed at making the citizenry aware of rational and sustainable mobility for which public transport will become the backbone of their movements.  The councillor also affirmed that the bicycle should become an obligatory element within the public transport system.
